Rooms Volume Two: More portraits of remarkable New Zealand interiors

Rooms: Portraits of Remarkable New Zealand Interiors, by the lauded photographer Jane Ussher, sold out quickly when it was published in 2022. Since then she has been photographing homes throughout New Zealand for Rooms Volume Two.

As with its glorious predecessor, its 300 images reveal and celebrate the way art, furniture, textiles and found objects can be deployed to reflect life here in Aotearoa. Importantly, all the houses gathered in this book have a sort of secret sauce: what their owners have is not as important as how they have placed it in a space.

Ussher’s images of rooms from across New Zealand are introduced by a superb essay by design expert Douglas Lloyd Jenkins. Detailed texts at the back explain artwork, furniture and objects visible in the images. It is destined to feature on coffee tables for many years to come.
